Hm. My day was not very interesting i'm afraid. I'm a bit concerned about nerve pain i'm getting down my R leg. Other than that I had some blood drawn for a few tests (darn vampires!) and hung out with my MiL Sarah :).
Oh! I did make an experimental room spray using a few tablespoons of vinegar, about a cup of water and some lavender and clove essential oils. It sure smells nice but we'll see if it actually gets rid of dog smell ;).
Goodnight.
R elbow is sore, both wrists and hands, R knee was especially sore, and R foot is being weird.

Riding a Bike
I have an embarrassing confession. I can't really ride a bike...
I was never the type of kid to ride bikes. I was always very afraid I would fall off of them. Not that I would get hurt mind you, just that I would fall off >.>. It was only when I was a pre-teen when I really worked up the courage to properly ride a bike, and then I crashed into a tree....and a fence. Long story short I don't ride bikes.
But it is my goal this year to properly ride a bike with some regularity. Not only is it a wonderful exercise, but I could get places much quicker than walking. Or in some cases quicker than public transport. Thus my practice has begun!
Some of today was spent with my husband and dog out front on the little side street cheering me on (or barking at me, depending on who you are talking about) as I wobbled around on my mother-in-laws bike wearing my shiny new helmet (the fact that it was shiny and new helped a little ;) ). I was able to get going, though my anxiety was almost attack-inducing. Bran of course was lovely and encouraging, giving me tips where he could. Milo was excited and vocal, running along side the bike as much as he could on his long lead. I got the gist of it, but it is quite a short road, so tomorrow we will go down to the bottom of the hill and i'll get some more practice in.
I've set my mind on this. I will become a person who rides bikes! I will be one of those eco-friendly people who rides their bike to the store with their canvas bags! We will go on picnics to places other than our back yard! As long as I don't crash into a tree or a fence ;).

Of risotto and girly things *FEMALE WARNING*
I'm going to talk about my menstrual cycle, so if you are squeamish about blood, bodily fluids, or womanly bits you may not want to read on.
So I started my day by quite suddenly realising I had started my period. That happens, oh, in your early teens or pre-teens when you first start and sometimes you get some blood spots on your sheets or pjs. Oh wait, i'm 22 o.O. The worst bit is that I had to get Bran to take the sheets downstairs and wash them -.-. Sorry hun. He is so good about that kind of stuff though, what a great guy <3. I think it was because I have been on pain meds, so I didn't get the cramps, or wake up like I normally would. Anyway, icky.
On a lighter note, I got to try out my menstrual cup! For those who don't know (most people probably) a menstrual cup is a little soft rubber (or silicone, or latex) cup, usually with a little stem, that is inserted into the vagina to catch menstrual blood. It is re-useable, comfortable, and had so much less waste than any other menstrual product that I can think of. You can also wear it easily for 12 hours without having to worry about leakage. Buuut, you have to be able to deal with your own blood and be very comfortable poking around in your vagina. This is my first time using such a product, but i'm pretty happy with it. It hasn't leaked at all, and though I had some initial trouble getting it out, once I got the hang of it, i've found it no more uncomfortable than tampons. I have a lunette which I believe is the only one you can get in Australia.
Anyway, thats my crazy eco-friendly-girly-gross out for the day. Sorry if it was too much information :D.
I also made pumpkin cream cheese risotto today. I wont bother putting up a recipe as I didn't really use one. Just made a basic risotto and added a small roasted butternut pumpkin (squash for the Americans) and about a third of a block of cream cheese. I'm having that along with some sourdough bread Bran brought home for dinner tonight, yum! Maybe i'll pretend i'm healthy and have a salad too >.>. I'll try and get a picture in tomorrow when I can move around a bit more.
Recovery is going well, I feel like I have a bit more strength in my legs, but the numbness and pain in my hip persists. I have a follow up appointment with the neurosurgeon in a week so we'll see what he says.

Of visas and cleaning
Good morning non-existant readers!
So let me start off by saying that it has taken a ridiculously long time to gather everything I have needed to apply for my temporary residency visa. Like, ten months. And I still have however long the processing will take once I hand in everything :/ not to mention the interview I have to do (and Bran? i'm not sure if he is interviewed too but I think so). *sigh* But it's all good. Soon I can go to school and work and go see a doctor about my crazy knee! I feel a little bit like my life has been on hold for about a year, even though in that year I have gotten married, moved, changed my cleaning habits, and improved my homemaking skills exponentially.
Speaking of cleaning, i'll tell you about how I clean. I've been cleaning with vinegar and tea tree oil in a spray bottle for quite a while, around a year now. At least with the vinegar anyway. We just recently gave up all bleach products (we used them in the bathroom to make sure all the nasties were gone) in favor of a hydrogen peroxide solution. I know some people would say just use vinegar, as it is antiseptic, but I feel better knowing that the hydrogen peroxide will get rid of everything in say, the toilet. I'm not a crazy germ-a-phobe but I just feel safer. Plus the hydrogen peroxide is actually getting rid of the icky mould/grout stuff in the shower! Despite how much I tried the vinegar just wouldn't cut it :(. So just today I made a paste of baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and a bit of water and scrubbed that in. I let it sit for...at least an hour, I wasn't really paying attention, then scrubbed off and it looks sooooo much better. Not quite pristine white, but not like it looked like we hadn't cleaned the shower in years.
So here is a before and after shot. I'm not sure how well it will actually show.

Before
After
And this is my cleaning arsenal.
So thats that for today. Tomorrow I am off to the immigration department to hand in my papers and hopefully have my interview. I think I need Bran there for that though. Bye bye.
